Chloe's first sunrise
2017

In the year 2017 I was awarded the opportunity along with 60 other artists and designers to participate in "Another Door Opens" A project dedicated to benefit the CHICAGO HOUSE, an NFP that offers support and assistance to the youth HIV/AIDS community. The concept and process was for each artist or team to select a vintage door from the collection at Architectural Artifacts then, repurpose, redefine, deconstruct and redesign it until each became its own new unique creation. The first thing I noticed about the door I ultimately chose was the two panes of beautiful etched glass. This inspired me to reimagine my door into a floor lamp focusing mainly on the etched glass floral design. I built a "Prairie Style" inspired frame from pieces of the wood, set the two panes parallel six inches apart and illuminated it from within. This piece was inspired by my lovely and talented niece Chloe whose life is as precious now as the morning that she was born.
