Portfolios > Portfolio II Dead do tell tales 2019-2023

It has been said that "Dead men tell no tales" and while that may mostly be true, I find that they often have the best stories if we are willing to listen.

On January 2nd 2017 I took my last drink, it was a long time coming, I knew I needed help long before I found myself desperate enough to seek it.
After some time healing and getting honest with myself I have finally come around to sharing this part of my life with the public through my work.
The title of this gallery "Dead do tell tales "is a play on an old saying that argues to the contrary and within it some stories and truths are told, both as I saw them then and as I see them now.

These are not stories of woe and self pity let it be known, instead they are my way to share my hope and gratitude for the life I now have in sobriety and I believe they hold some universal sentiments that we can all connect with. Its ok to find them absurd and even funny, in some of them that is the intent and while I take addiction deadly serious, with the benefit of hindsight and sober clarity I can now look inward and not take MYSELF so seriously so please, take from them what you will.
As a long departed poet once wrote, "It is preferable not to travel with a dead man". While this may also be true enough I ask you, viewer, to take but a small trip with the one depicted here, he has travelled alone for far too long!

Gratefully,
Chris M Trejo
